Can I just say how happy i am that it is springtime? I realize how much I love being outside. I love being in the woods or in the water of a lake. I remember as a kid I used to lay in my back/front yard with a bunch of blankets and read my favorite book. I remember going to girls camp and hiking up and down the middle of a river on the rocks and just having a blast! My family has always been very outdoorsy and I'm super glad I was raised that way. We have always gone boating and camping together. My whole extended family (on both sides) used to go boating and camping up at Flaming Gorge or down at Lake Powell and it was so fun. As the cousins got older and the boats got sold the extended family activities kinda died out. Then my Dad got his own boat and we started going out to the lake again. We are fortunate to live within an hour of several lakes. My Dad particularly likes Yuba and Deer Creek. I love riding the tube and I will take all of the crazy stuff my Dad likes to pull and I LOVE IT! I also find myself loving just sitting on the beach with my book and the sun shining on me. I love the water.
Camping has been good too. How many 22 year old girls do you know that have their own 6 person tent? Hmmm? Well I just so happen to have my very own. :D I've always loved camping. I never understood the girls who HATED girls camp. I always wanted to go every year. The favorite time that springs to mind has to be time we went to Arches National Park and I climbed up the rocks and just laid on top of them and enjoyed the sun. It was great. I also remember the time we went to a boy scout camp and learned how to repel. That was way cool. I have always like doing the "boy" activities. I was always the girl who had a knife and was whittling wood around the camp fire or helping set up the tents/tarps. I just love being outside.
I've found that as I've gotten older and discovered my girly side, I haven't been doing this stuff as much. I've missed it. I went to lunch out in the park today. I laid there and enjoyed feeling the sun on my skin. It'd been to long since I'd just relaxed like that. That is my goal this summer. To be outside and enjoy feeling everything nature has to offer me. I'm truly a nature girl at heart. :)
